Fixing Your Broken Concrete Hatch Pattern.

Helpful Settings for Plotting 3D Solids in AutoCAD.

In addition to making this change to the Vistual Style, changing the following AutoCAD variables helps the plot to display correctly.

Change the вЂњNumber of LinesвЂќ setting from вЂњ 20вЂќ to вЂњ 0вЂќ (zero).

Scroll down in the palette to the вЂњEdge SettingsвЂќ section, Change the property called вЂњShowвЂќ from вЂњ Facet EdgesвЂќ to вЂњ IsolinesвЂњ.

In this example, I changed the вЂњ HiddenвЂќ Visual Style.

Select the Visual Style that you wish to change in the upper section of the palette.

Use the command VISUALSTYLES in the command line to open the Visual Styles palette.

Change вЂњ Shade PlotвЂќ from вЂњ As DisplayedвЂќ to вЂњHiddenвЂќД¬hange the Visual Style to not display the вЂњIsolinesвЂќ.

Then change the вЂњShade PlotвЂќ setting of the viewport by selecting the edge of the viewport from paper space and opening the вЂњ PropertiesвЂќ palette.

This trips me up a lot and I confuse them for each otherвЂ¦ДЇor the purposes of this blog post, I will keep it simple and keep the visual style of the Viewport set to вЂњ2D WireframeвЂќ (shown below)

Note that there is a difference of a вЂњVisual StyleвЂќ and вЂњShade PlotвЂќ setting. The settings of the visual styles for a viewport can be confusing. There are some helpful AutoCAD variables and an adjustment to your preferred вЂњVisual style(s)вЂќ that can help make printing 3D solids look correct in your print.ДЇirst вЂ“ The issue that we encountered was that intersecting solids didnвЂ™t have a clear intersection in the print and curved 3D objects were displaying lines where a вЂњtessellationвЂќ of the curves would be. This post isnвЂ™t a fix-all solution but it has helped printing/plotting issues that IвЂ™ve recently encountered.
